NBSC Joins Manolo Fortich’s Tree-Growing Initiative to Combat Global Plastic Pollution
In solidarity with the global theme “Ending Global Plastic Pollution,” fifteen (15) representatives from Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) took part in a simultaneous tree-growing activity initiated by the Municipality of Manolo Fortich through its Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO). The event was held on June 25, 2025, at the “Tayo ang Kalikasan” managed reforestation site.
“Tayo ang Kalikasan” sites are areas identified and managed by the MENRO-Manolo Fortich as strategic reforestation zones within the municipality, as well as partner schools, establishments, and agencies within the municipality.
The NBSC delegation was led by Mr. John Mark L. Boyonas, the college’s NSTP Coordinator and head of the General Education Curricula Department. Participants gathered at the planting site, and the ceremonial and simultaneous planting commenced.
The environmental activity forms part of the town’s commitment to sustainable development and ecological responsibility. It also responds to the call for collective action against plastic pollution, aligning with global efforts to restore and protect natural resources through localized tree-planting campaigns.
To monitor the initiative’s success and impact, a Monitoring Sheet was provided for all participating agencies to document the number of hills planted. NBSC submitted its completed report to MENRO following the activity, reflecting the institution’s continued partnership in community-based environmental programs.
The MENRO Office, through Municipal Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño, expressed gratitude to all participating groups for their dedication and active involvement in building a greener and more sustainable future for Manolo Fortich.
